Ingredients

  • Shredded Feef
  • 1 minute steak per person

  • 2 cups of cornflour

  • salt & pepper

  • Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • 1/4 cup white sugar

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1-2 birdseye chillis (depending on your taste), chopped

  • 1 carrot, finely julienned

Directions

  • Crispy Beef
  • Cut the minute steak super fine (across the grain)
  • Dredge in the seasoned cornflour (refrigerate for an hour at least before frying)
  • Deep fry in a deep fryer, or a large pan (in batches, to avoid lowering oil temp and broiling)
  • Salt and set aside on paper towels
  • Sauce
  • Combine sauce ingredients in a pot and simmer until it thickens
  • While the sauce simmers, sweat down the julienned carrot in a pan until soft.
  • Once the sauce has thickened, adjust the flavour balance if needed.
  • Add julienned carrots into the sauce and then combine with the beef. Mix and reduce a little more if needed.
  • Serve over white rice or fried rice for a ‘fakeaway’ experience at home.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions if you have them.

Notes

  • You can use pre-cut stir fry beef if you don’t fancy finely cutting your minute steak. However the finer the cut, the crunchier the shredded beef is after frying.
  • You can also make this recipe out of finely cut pork or chicken too.
